Joe Fonzi

Joe Fonzi is KTVU FOX 2’s weekend sports anchor. He also hosts KTVU’s 49ers Point After and 49ers Total Access which won an Emmy for Outstanding Weekly News Program. Fonzi has interviewed countless sports legends, including football greats, Joe Montana, Steve Young and Jerry Rice. He has also interviewed basketball stars Nate Thurmond, Stephen Curry and David Lee and baseball greats Willie Mays, Willie McCovey and Tim Lincecum.

He worked as a reporter at KHSL TV, Chico, California; KXTV, Sacramento, California; KSBW TV, Salinas-Monterey and then KPIX TV, San Francisco. Fonzi has been the play-by-play announcer for the Oakland A’s, San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers and UC Berkeley football games.

He has been honored by the San Francisco Press Club, and has received several UPI (United Press International) awards and two NorCal RTNDA (Radio Television News Directors Association) awards. Fonzi graduated with a BA degree in Communications from California State University, Chico.
