Félix de Rosen

Instructor
School of Landscape Architecture

Félix de Rosen is a restoration landscape designer and author based in Oakland, California. His practice, titled Polycultura, focuses on design strategies that amplify biodiversity and cultural ties to biodiversity. With an undergraduate degree in Government from Harvard University and a graduate degree in Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley, and with experience as a gardener, landscape designer, and exhibit designer in the San Francisco Bay Area, he now works with Regenerative Resources Co (RRC), a company that designs and consults on regenerative seawater agroecosystems. Felix believes passionately in merging the fields of agriculture and restoration ecology: by including harvestable plants into ecological restoration design, a profit can be generated that in turn finances more restoration. Felix is excited to develop this economic approach to landscape architecture. He also believes strongly in the role of culture (in particular music and visual arts) as vehicles for promoting environmental awareness. He is publishing a book with Princeton Architectural Press on garden design, titled A Garden’s Purpose: Reawakening Our Connection to Nature, which will be released January 2023. He volunteers with cultural and environmental organizations around the Bay to help them develop ecologically sound narratives. Examples of his work can be found at www.polycultura.com.
