As the culmination of new graduates’ college experience, Spring Show at the Academy of Art University is never short on drama. But the dénouement, the climax, the zenith of Spring Show for most of the university’s school’s comes at the very end of the day: the presentation of scholarship awards to the year’s top students. The School of Graphic Design is a case study.
Spring Show is not only a milestone for students, it’s also an opportunity to show off what they’ve accomplished…to be rewarded, and also to present their best to the countless industry representatives who come to the show to scout for new employees.
At the 2015 Spring Show on Monday, May 18, 52 new Graphic Design alumni—26 MFAs and 26 BFAs—held their collective breath as seven $1000-dollar scholarships were announced, with cash awards courtesy of the school’s extensive roster of corporate partners, which include Trinchero Family Estates, The Hershey Company and Monotype Imaging Holdings.
As always, the students’ graphic design portfolio was judged by a stellar panel of some of the nation’s most accomplished graphic designers:
• Camilla Bravo, Siegel+Gale (Chair)
• Jane Anderson, Michael Osborne Design
• Agustin Garza, Garza Group
• James Trump, Moving Brands
• Kristopher Leigh, IA Collaborative
• Mary Ellen Muckerman, Mozilla
