Find Yourself In Florence

Study art and design at the Academy of Art University Campus in Florence, Italy.

In partnership with SRISA, Academy of Art University is offering the adventure of a lifetime. You’ll be studying and creating art under the guidance of Academy instructors in the birthplace of the Renaissance while exploring the magic of Tuscany.

Students from all Academy schools—as well as non-degree seekers—are welcome. There are no prerequisites for the Study Abroad program. To participate, you must enroll in one of three programs of study offered: Fashion, Fine Art/Illustration, or Photography/Liberal Arts.

Elective credits for your major can be earned by studying in any of the three programs. Liberal arts credits may be earned by studying in the fashion or photography programs. Contact your advisor to discuss your eligibility.

Program Fee: Fashion Students: $5,500 per student*
Photography/Liberal Arts Students: $5,500 per student*
Fine Arts/Illustration Students: $5,000 per student*

Application Process and Timeline

April 1, 2024: Application and Registration deadline*
May 6, 2024: Deadline for payment of all program fees

*If spots are still available, you can still apply and register until the May 6th payment deadline.

What’s Included: Program Highlights expand_more

For all students, the summer experience at SRISA includes:

Welcome Gala in Florence, including an overview of the city and all health and safety information
Seven weeks of on-location learning with ArtU Instructors on the SRISA campus and in various locations in and around Florence
24-hour emergency assistance
On-campus WiFi
Access to on-campus facilities in Florence
An Uffizi Card, which offers unlimited access to the Uffizi, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, and Bardini Gardens
Day trip to San Gimignano with private bus transportation (except Fashion Students)
Four-day, three-night trip to Venice with public transportation and student accommodations in multi-person rooms (2-4 people)
End-of-summer group show and reception at the Academy of Art University facility

What’s Not Included expand_more

The following elements of the Study Abroad program are not included in the main program fee:

Academy of Art University tuition for six units
Flights to/from Florence, Italy
Transportation to/from airport in Florence
Health Insurance (for international students who require a visa, the cost is normally around $100)
Meals and other personal expenses
Optional $150 private room fee for Venice trip
Single rooms for the Venice trip may be requested directly through SRISA and cost a one-time flat fee of $150.00. Requests for a single room on the Venice trip must be made by April 15, 2024.
Program enrollees have the option to invite guests to join them on the Venice side trip. The cost is $750 per guest

Housing expand_more

You have the option to secure housing independently or directly with SRISA.

Housing booked directly with SRISA is $2,570 per person for a double occupancy room in a shared apartment (from June 25 through August 11)
Requests for shared student housing must be made with SRISA by April 15, 2024. SRISA housing fees are non-refundable after April 15, 2024
A $250 refundable housing deposit is required per student in shared student housing

Health Insurance expand_more

All participants in the program must have a health insurance policy that covers them while abroad. This can be a personal policy, one provided by your program, or travel health insurance purchased specifically for the length of your studies in Florence. For more information, click here.

June 10, 2024 Deadline to receive 50% refund of the student program fee; after this date there will be no refunds

Travel Visas expand_more

If you are an international student without a US passport, you will need a visa to travel to Italy. Please meet with your program contact to sign up for an appointment with the consulate.

Financial Aid expand_more
