Academy of Art Launches Teach-Out Agreement for Art Institute Students

San Francisco, CA. — Academy of Art University now offers a teach-out articulation agreement for students affected by the sudden closure of the Art Institute colleges. This is on top of the previously established transfer articulation agreement, which allows former Ai students to complete their degrees at the Academy.

A transfer agreement had been previously established with various Ai campuses across the nation, which will allow former Ai students to complete their degrees at Academy of Art.

National Teach-Out Agreement

Under the Teach-Out agreement, former Ai students with at least 75% of their program already completed will be allowed to transfer up to 100% of their credits so that they may continue to stay on track to complete their degree.

For Associates, this translates to 68 or more completed units out of 90, while for Bachelors, it’s at least 135 completed credits out of 180.

Students must submit their portfolio and degree audit report for eligibility. The Academy will determine the student’s current skill level based on these, and will require classes for completion based on the findings.

Ten degree programs are covered in the agreement: Advertising, Animation & Visual Effects, Game Development, Graphic Design, Fashion, Interior Architecture & Design, Motion Picture & Television, Music Production for Sound Design & Visual Media, Photography, and Web Design & New Media.

To earn a diploma from the Academy under this agreement, the student must earn passing grades and complete their Art Institute degree requirements by the end of the 2020 Summer semester.

Transfer Articulation

Students who do not qualify for the Teach-Out Agreement may instead opt for the Transfer Articulation Agreement. Under this agreement, transfer students may be able to transfer up to 75% of the degree equivalent offered at the Academy. Students will also be required to submit their portfolio and degree audit report for eligibility.

Scholarships Offered

To further help ease the transition process, Academy of Art University is waiving application fees ($50) and enrollment fees ($95).

Up to $7,000 in scholarships will also be offered under both agreements. Students enrolled in at least six units, whether online or in campus, are eligible for the seven $1,000 scholarships per semester for up to seven semesters maximum.

Former Ai students interested in enrolling at the Academy of Art University can learn more by contacting the Admissions Department.
