Hideki Masuda joined the School of Industrial Design in 1998 as one of the founding members of its Transportation Design discipline. While teaching fundamental skill set development courses in drawing, model making, and digital 3-D modeling, his initial tasks included updating its undergraduate and graduate degree programs by developing new courses and revising existing offerings to ensure that the school remains current with rapidly evolving industry standards and trends. As an Online Associate Director, starting 2014, he has pioneered online industrial design degree programs making the entire AA, BFA, and MFA degrees attainable solely through online education. His other collaborative efforts include the establishment of a cutting-edge computer lab at the school, installation and expansion of its 3D printing facility, creation of online learning tools, and authoring many of the online courses. He became a Director in 2016 and continues his effort in curriculum development and educating the next generation of industrial designers.
